A Zero BS Approach to Skincare

Sometimes, true revolution comes from returning to the place where it all began.

For the Zero BS skincare brand, ancient wisdom and clinical science point to a different way for skin health — animal-based fats.

The active ingredient in their products is tallow — rendered fat from grass-fed, free-range cows. With its 55% saturated fat profile, tallow has an almost identical molecular structure to human sebum (the natural oils our bodies produce to keep the skin healthy).

The nutrient-rich ingredient is packed with naturally-occurring vitamins A, D, K, E, B12, omega 3, and fatty acids.

Like the origin story of so many start-ups, Zero BS had its genesis in someone trying to solve a problem of their own.  Warren Wilensky had an itch that needed scratching. An avid chef, he had heard about the benefits of tallow, not only in cooking but in traditional healing. Over time, he developed a non-chemical, non-steroid treatment for his daughter’s skin condition in the kitchen. A friend from birth, Yael Shapiro convinced him that his balms deserved to be shared more widely. This lead to the creation of the Zero BS brand, and the birth of a business partnership.

The Zero BS product range has now been clinically proven to be a highly effective anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, with antibacterial and anti-fungal properties to boot.  This medical profile makes it both cosmetic and therapeutic. The products are both preventative and curative, and keep the skin in optimal health through daily use.

The brand’s name reflects the cornerstones of its DNA: no BS in the ingredients, marketing message, or pricing.

Both founders gave up lifelong careers to pursue this passion, and the continual stream of phone calls and emails from people who have been helped with extreme skin conditions (including eczema, psoriasis, and a number of autoimmune conditions) has made it all worthwhile.
