My Journey
to Wellness:
Chaz Hamner
By: Chaz Hamner
We catch up with cover model Chaz Hamner on how he lives life well.
What inspired you to become a personal trainer and online coach?
I've always been fascinated by how movement can completely change a person's life – not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, too. After my own mental and physical challenges growing up, I knew I wanted to dedicate my career to helping others unlock their potential.
Becoming a personal trainer and online coach gave me the ability to impact lives far beyond the walls of a gym.
How has your role as a Certified Sports Conditioner shaped your training philosophy?
Sports conditioning taught me the importance of training for both performance and longevity. It's not just about aesthetics – it's about moving better, preventing injuries, and performing at your best in every aspect of life.
This background has shaped TCFIT into a results-driven but sustainable approach.
Can you share a defining moment that reinforced your passion for fitness and coaching?
One of my clients once told me that they had a goal to lose a certain amount of weight in a very specific time period. Fast forward 18 months, and they were 55 kg lighter, with 48 cm lost around the waist. More importantly, they felt healthy, strong, mobile, and confident.
That was a powerful reminder that fitness is about so much more than sets and reps; it's about building a stronger, more resilient version of yourself.
Your tagline, "Let your success speak volumes," is powerful. How do you interpret that in the context of your coaching?
For me, it means that results are the loudest voice. You don't need to talk about what you're doing. Your transformation will speak for itself, whether it's improved strength, weight loss, more confidence, or better performance. My role is to guide people so that their success tells their story.
What principles guide your programs, and how do you tailor them for individual clients?
I build every programme on four pillars: strength, movement quality, consistency, and balance. From there, I tailor the plan to the client's goals, experience level, and lifestyle. No two people are the same, so no two programmes should be, either.
As a coach, how do you balance technical training with motivating clients emotionally?
I believe in meeting people where they are in fitness, mindset, lifestyle, and confidence. I assess their current ability, stress levels, time, and motivation. On some days, a client needs technical precision, and on others, they may need someone who believes in them when they don't believe in themselves.
As a coach, respecting the client's journey is very important – I am able to guide, teach, and build from there.
How do you ensure that TCFIT's customised training and meal plans truly fit a client's lifestyle?
I start by learning about their schedule, responsibilities, and preferences. A plan is only as good as a client's ability to stick to it. By creating programmes that fit into their lifestyle instead of fighting against it, clients can build routines that last.
What's your process for creating a training plan for someone who's "time-poor," juggling work, family, or other responsibilities?
I strip away the noise and focus on what delivers the biggest results in the least amount of time. That often means efficient strength circuits, functional movements, and quick but effective conditioning sessions. It's about maximum impact, with minimum wasted time.
Are there particular challenges or opportunities faced by clients in your community?
In my community, a big challenge is finding the time and energy to prioritise health in the middle of a busy work week and family life. But the beauty is that – once people realise that fitness doesn't have to take hours a day – it becomes an achievable and enjoyable part of their lifestyle.
How do you help clients overcome mental plateaus or fitness burnout?
I encourage clients to shift their focus from just the physical results to the daily wins. Improved energy, better sleep, and even stress relief are all daily wins.
I also switch up their training style, introduce new challenges, or scale things back when needed. Burnout often means that you need to take a step back and rediscover the simple joy of movement.
What daily habits or rituals do you practice personally to stay motivated and balanced?
I start every day by waking up at 5 am. When I arrive at the gym, I make sure to do five to 10 minutes of mobility movement. I also make sure to get sunlight and practise gratitude daily. I've also started to read more, and really look inward for a better understanding of myself and to deal with past trauma.
For me, it's about building non-negotiables into my lifestyle that keep me grounded, strong, and focused.
Do you have any favourite clean fitness products at Wellness Warehouse?
I really value high-quality protein powders like the My Wellness Clean Protein Chocolate Shake and their Clean Creatine. They make it easy to stay on track with nutrition while supporting recovery and performance. I also love functional snacks that are quick, healthy, and convenient for busy days.
