Radiance from the Source

By: Mpho Masenya

Local Ingredients Leading the Way

The roots of South Africa's beauty scene lie in our heritage — natural ingredients sourced from the earth, sea, and land, including desert plants, coastal and ground minerals, bee-derived treasures, and other nourishing oils and fats. These treasures are transformed into ingredients that nourish, protect, and rejuvenate diverse skin tones and hair types. Often blended with other African gems like shea butter, resurrection plant and castor oils, these ingredients create unique, effective beauty products that showcase the continent's rich diversity.

As autumn and winter set in, my skin turns dry and my hair thirsty. I lean on products rich in homegrown botanicals, minerals, and natural actives, like gently exfoliating papaya enzymes, and kaolin and bentonite clays to detoxify both my skin and scalp. Rooibos is a staple antioxidant, while rosehip and honey help replenish skin moisture. For whole-body moisture, soothing tallow body butter is my go-to, while shea butter hydrates my hair, sealed with lightweight oils like baobab.
