Hearty Winter Slow Cooked Beef Stew

How To Use Bone Broth:

 

· Warm it up and sip on it (add your favourite flavour such as lemon or a touch of chilli, salt or pepper).

 

· Add to soups, stews, curries, sauces, bowl food, gravies.

 

· Make soup, stew, curry, sauces, bowl food or gravies by using BONE BROTH as your base.

 

· Replace water with BONE BROTH when cooking pasta, rice, grains, lentils, legumes & beans.

 

· Replace diary in egg dishes with bone broth.

 

· Use as a base to your meal. For example, take our chicken coconut & lime sipping broth, add noodles and a splash of seasoning and lemon and you have yourself a meal or add beef and chicken bone broth to your pot roast for a slow cooked and incredibly nutritious meal

 

The Naked Bones Bone Broth will last up to a year in your freezer and will stay refrigerated for 10 days. Remember, you can also combine bone broths.

Ingredients
1.5 kg chuck or stewing steak, cut into large pieces
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
40 g (1/4 cup) plain flour
300 ml (1 cup + 1/4 cup) Naked Bones or Wellness Warehouse Beef Broth (grassfed & free range)
40 ml (2 Tablespoons) tomato paste
20 ml (1 Tablespoon) Worcestershire Sauce
300 g (4 1/3 cups) mushrooms, quartered
3 medium carrots, peeled and cut into large chunks
1 bay leaf
1 TBSP thyme leaves
2 TBSP chopped parsley
Salt & pepper
Olive oil, if browning ingredients
Method
1. Whisk the beef stock, tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce together, set aside.
2. Brown the beef chunks on both sides in a large pot: medium high heat.
3. When browned, add the onions to the pot. Fry for 5 minutes or until softened.
4. Add the garlic to the pan and fry for 1 minute.
5. Scatter the flour over the onions, and continue to fry for one minute.
6. Pour the beef stock mixture into the pot.
7. Stir briefly to incorporate the flour mixture into the stock.
8. Add the mushrooms, carrots, bay leaf, and thyme
9. Season with salt and pepper.
10. Stir thoroughly to coat the beef and vegetables in the sauce.
11. Cook on low for 3 hours or until soft.
12. At the end of the cooking time, stir through the parsley and adjust the seasonings if necessary.
13. Serve with your favourite Wellness Warehouse grains, pasta or rice.
